The enormous use of internet in smart and connected healthcare continuously churn out very large amounts of structured and unstructured data due to which healthcare practitioners are increasingly facing difficulties in managing and capitalizing them to their advantage. Big data analytics is the process of examining these large data sets to uncover hidden patterns, unknown correlations, market trends, customer preferences and other useful business information. The analytical findings can lead to more effective marketing, new revenue opportunities, better customer service, improved operational efficiency, competitive advantages over rival organizations and other business benefits.

This workshop sponsored by IEEE CHASE 2017, focuses on bringing together researchers and practitioners in mobile computing, biomedical and machine learning to showcase the progress, algorithms, and applications of analyzing and extracting knowledge from large-scale datasets for smart and connected healthcare. We invite researchers and practitioners to submit theoretical and experimental results on topics of interest included but not limited to:

  • Store and retrieve ever growing dataset from smart and mobile devices
  • New protocols and interfaces for integration/distribution of newly arrived data

  • Novel applications and case studies for healthcare based on smart and mobile devices
  • Medical data privacy preservation in cloud environment


Paper Submission

Submitted manuscripts may not exceed 6 (or 7 with $100 extra fees) single-spaced double-column pages using 10-point size font on 8.5x11 inch pages (IEEE conference style), including figures, tables, and references. Only electronic submission in PDF will be accepted. Submitted regular papers must be written in English, must render without error using standard PDF viewing tools, and must include author names and affiliations on the first page. Submitted papers must be neither previously published nor under review by another workshop, conference or journal. Note that at least one of the authors of each paper accepted for presentation in BIGDATA4HEALTH must be registered. All papers presented at the Workshop will be published by IEEE, and indexed by IEEExplore and by Ei Compendex. A select number of distinguished papers, after further major revisions, will also be considered for publication in special issues of Annals of Biomedical Engineering (under processing).
